Mies
Mies release notes
1.0.0-rc2 (signed 2026-10-05)
Fixed
- Very detailed PDFs no longer freeze the PDF window while loading. The drawing now loads off the main thread, so the window stays responsive and the dots keep moving.
- If a drawing has too much detail, you get a plain message after 60 seconds instead of a hang: "This drawing has too much detail for me to load. In Revit, turn off hatches and fill patterns in the view, export the PDF again, and retry." The Mies panel shows the same message.
New
- Zoom and pan in the PDF window. Scroll to zoom, hold the wheel to pan, double-click the wheel to fit.
- An app icon.
- A clearer message when a sheet has more than one drawing on it: "If this sheet has more than one drawing on it, draw a crop box around the floor plan and try again."
- If your PDF has more than one page, the window tells you: "This PDF has N pages. I'm reading page 1."
Removed
- A developer-only button on the Mies ribbon tab. You only see "Open Mies" now.
For the record: hang fix 4d1ebbf.
1.0.0-rc1 (signed 2026-09-29)
The first signed installer. Version 1.0.0-rc1 shows at the bottom of the Mies panel.
SHA-256 of the signed installer: A111DC9B05EF6D4818375581A374B1BB5B955379E0051709B395D98638761F66
What the tests on a second PC confirmed:
- The unsigned build installed there and passed five checks: health check, tagging doors, a question about the project, running a saved workflow, and a PDF import.
- The signed build, downloaded through a browser, installed with no "Unknown Publisher" anywhere. Windows and Revit both show the publisher as VP Architect.
- The uninstaller is signed too.
Known limits (still true in rc2)
- Mies reads page 1 of a multi-page PDF.
- Mies works from the lines in the PDF. Scans and photos are not supported. Export the PDF from Revit or CAD, with walls drawn heavier than everything else.
- Mies picks out walls mostly by line weight. If the walls on your sheet are not the heaviest lines, it says "This is probably not a plan I can read yet" and lets you cancel or build anyway.
- A sheet with several drawings on it needs a crop box around the floor plan.
- Doors and windows are found less reliably than walls. Check them after an import.
- A plan with a very large number of lines can take a while to draw in the PDF window, around 24 seconds on one test plan.
- Running a saved workflow can make Mies repeat its previous answer.
- Windows SmartScreen may still warn on first run. Its trust in a new publisher builds as more people install.
- Mies checks your key online each time it starts, so you need an internet connection.
- Revit 2026 only.
